I run my own ARG here on livejournal, If you are interested you can check it out ljgames_au, I know for sure that there are a few others around on livejournal as well so if you have never played one on here before and you are looking for one to play do a search around livejournal. Or ask and I could give you a few of the ones I know of.

Did anyone stick around for the eon8.com countdown? Didn't end up being an ARG, sadly (looked like it would have been interesting), but a very interesting experiment nonetheless! Shows how effective viral marketing can be... the website wasn't even accessible during the last few hours and Immersion Unlimited got  a huge amount of new people just looking for info on it.

Lost-themed ARG coming soon? [24 Apr 2006|05:32pm]

ripptide
ABC News seems to say yes.

April 24, 2006 -- "Lost" fans around the world will get a chance to start unlocking secrets about the mysterious island that has become an international obsession.

In what's being hailed as the largest interactive challenge based on a TV series, ABC and 19 other networks stretching across five continents are introducing "Lost Experience" — an Internet game that will feature a parallel story line that will give insight into the top-rated show.

The first clue will air on a May 3 episode, but network executives aren't saying how the game will launch or whether the critical clue will come during the broadcast or as part of a commercial break.

No further information for "Lost Experience" is being released, and network executives say future clues could pop up in any part of the world and on any medium. Fans from different countries will have to reach out to each other and trade information if they want to start sleuthing.

Thoughts? I'm looking forward to this, but I wonder just how complex it will be. My gut is telling me they'll dumb it down a bit for the masses, and that makes me sad. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I just ordered a Perplex City four-pack from Insound.

Only 8 of the 26 were ones I hadn't already solved - some duplicates of extras I already had!

So who wants to trade?  :-D

IN search of secret agents, treasure hunters, and costumed idiots (portland) [05 Apr 2006|05:46pm]

frla
Looking for co-creators for city wide A.R.G. / streetwars style immersive action/puzzle solving game.

Must enjoy espionage, treasure hunting, and behaving ludicrously while taking things slightly too seriously.

Also, a background in game building, writing, orienteering, graphic design, or treasure hunting of any form a plus.

Insounds loses Pitchfork sponsorship, compensates by becoming the first US online retailer of Perplex City cards.

I'd say that's a pretty good tradeoff!

Anyone got any dirt to when Perplex City cards are going to be available for purchase in the States? I just started playing but am already sick of the unfavorable exchange rates & shipping from Firebox to the US.

Signs of life [09 Feb 2006|11:16am]

sux0rbiscuit
Well, since you want a revival, here is the shock paddles. Some of you may remember me, a lot of you probably don't, but yeah, whatever.

Wildfire industries 2 is looking to show some signs of life to be able to start up. Colin Brennan's first game which ran on Immersion Unlimited was revealed around this time last year and offered a cash prize to player of the game. It was also one of the first games to actually be two different games at once. This time around, the new corporation Infinity Corp has shown up to take over where Rainman Group fell off the map. to check out all the news and information on this check out the chat room in #wildfireindustries and www.immersionunlimited.com This game has not started yet and looks to be in a semi-teaser phase, so get in on the ground floor.

Possible Rabbit hole [02 Jul 2005|08:44am]

salkunh
Ok so this morning the postman brought a letter addressed to "Blueshift Media" the webhosting and design company that my other half runs. The company isn't actually registered to this address but some of the domains are (namely the perplex City wiki).

In the envelope is a letter from "the carer" which gives the website http://thecarer.0nyx.com

if you get chance take a look at it and at the source :)

the other half has done a big long post on UF about it here which i'm sure as hell not gonna retype and stuff....the power of clicking compells you ;)

The Katsurame has quite a few things to say about ARGs on his blog, Curtain Call.

He requested that I link all you guys to him, so consider it done.

I'm thinking of compiling a list of essential ARG site links in the community info anyway, so request away by posting a comment here.  No site is too obvious, especially because I'm really sleepy and can't remember shit.

Okay. So now the question is, what do we do with this thing?

As your, uh, humble moderator, I have always liked the comment tree style of LJ and think it is a good balance between the immediacy of IRC and the wait-around-and-refresh style of UF's forums - not that anything could ever replace either of them.

Should this community:

be used primarily for on-topic ARG discussion
3(18.8%)
be used primarily for ARGers on LJ to just hang out and such
11(68.8%)
be left in the inactive state it was in up until yesterday?
2(12.5%)

If you're playing perplexcity:
Hi! I'm Scarlett Kiteway, I'm 19 years old, a journalism student in Perplex City and this is my blog all about the excitement over the search for the Cube. I'll be keeping track of what the media over there is saying about it, and maybe a little bit about my life as well!now syndicated from http://www.thescarlettkite.com as thescarlettkite

I am new to ARGs, and I'm just wondering if this film promotion counts.

(Mods can delete this post if it's irrelevant.)

The people on this forum are calling it an ARG and it's all really intriguing.
